How to Avoid Survey Scams Online

road-sign-464641_640One of the most common ways of making some extra cash online is by taking surveys. Unfortunately, good survey sites are hard to come by. Here are some tips for choosing a good survey site and how to avoid survey scam online.

#1: Make Sure They Pay

A common trick of survey scam sites is to set a minimum amount or earnings for cashing out, and then when you are approaching that amount or requesting a payment, they suddenly freeze your account or put in on hold. A lot of companies do this, under false pretenses and excuses, including that “suspicious activity was noticed” or they “suspect you of using a false identity.” No amount of dealing with the customer service brings you anywhere, as they are rude or just respond with a nonsensical answer. Nobody will take them to court for $30, so they know that they can get away with it.

In order to make sure that they actually pay, check out reviews on SiteJabber, Pissed Consumer, Scams.com, and SurveyPolice. You’ll be surprised at the hundreds of complaints on dozens of sites, accusing them of not paying out. There are only a few sites where reviews do claim that they were all paid.

#2: Avoid Sites That Disqualify You for Nothing

When taking surveys online, you are bound to be rejected for many surveys. This is simply because each survey needs a certain demographic. However, it is extremely frustrating when you get rejected in the middle of a survey, after wasting ten minutes. Try to go for sites that pay you at least something even when you are rejected, such as at least 10 cents. This way you know that you will eventually earn enough for a payout.

#3: Look for Sites With Low Payouts

Another tactic often used by scam sites is high payout requirements. Some sites require you to earn $50 before being able to cash out. The problem with this is that it will often take months, if not years, to reach such a high amount just by taking surveys online. Look for sites with low payout amounts, such as $10.

By the way, I do not recommend taking surveys online. I think there are much better ways to make money without wasting so much time.
