Want to make money online by writing articles? Well, you are in luck! There are so many ways you can do just that, and here we will explore six ways how to make money writing articles online.
Join a Content Mill
Well, this may not be the highest paying way to make money by writing online, but it certainly is the easiest. Content mills are websites that connect customers with writers. Customers post article-writing jobs, and the writers can then take a job, write the article, and get paid. Most of these content mills pay you a fixed rate per word. A lot of them also have “levels,” with higher levels paying a higher rate per word. You get to higher levels by getting great reviews from customers. To get accepted at a content mill, you usually have to take some sort of writing test or show them a sample article. I actually have a list of over 30 content mills, though I don’t recommend all of them.
Here are three content mills that I would recommend: Blogmutt, which pays $8 for 250-word posts, Textbroker, which has 4 levels that pay between $0.00.70 and $0.05 cents per word, and Writer’s Access. Blogmutt is a great way to make some part-time income, while Textbroker is better for some quick online cash, as it takes less time to get paid.
Join a Freelance Site
Freelance sites work differently than content mills. They are big sites where customers post job offerings. These jobs can be long-term; they are not limited to one article. Freelancers then bid for the job, meaning they send the customer a message explaining why they are a good fit for the job and for what price they would be willing to work for. The freelancer with the best qualifications and lowest price usually wins the bid.
Sell Your Services
The next option is to sell your services. You can join a site where you list your services and price. For example, you can say that you will write a 500-word article for $15. Customers then message you and enquire about the details.
These sites include Content Runner, Fiverr, Fourerr, and SEO Clerks.
Start a Freelance Writing Business
Start your own freelance writing business and deal directly with clients! Yes, you will write directly for privately-owned websites and blogs, and you can get paid for it. Read on to find out how to do it.

What you have to do is look for online classified writing job postings. These are usually long-term jobs, such as writing a weekly blog post for a small business’s website. Apply for the jobs you like, and if you are picked for the job, you can get paid nicely. It helps to have some samples prepared to show potential clients.
There are many websites where you can find these classified writing job postings, and I have a whole list of almost 20 of them.
Write a Mini-eBook
Yes, we are talking about articles, but a mini-ebook is not that much larger. Write a mini-ebook, say with just 30 pages or so, and sell it for a dollar on Amazon or eBay. You can also publish it on Kindle. It can take just a few hours to write, and if just a few hundred people buy it, that’s a few hundred extra bucks in your pocket. The best part is that you can earn recurring revenue, as your book will keep on selling and selling, sometimes for years.
The ebook can be about anything: A guide to doing something, tips on home improvement, how to train your dog to walk, a short horror story, or a true emotional story.
Start a Blog
You can start a blog, get visitors, and make money by advertising and promoting products. It’s easy to start these days, and you can even get free websites at places like WordPress or Blogspot. Money can be earned by placing ads on your site or by affiliate marketing.
It pays to have some basic training on how to set up your site and get visitors. In my recommended programs page, I list a few great ways on how to get free or very cheap training videos on this.
