Affilorama Review — What It Is
Affilorama is a training platform that aims to educate people how to make money online through affiliate marketing. It also contains a lot of tools that are useful for affiliate marketers. (Affiliate marketing is the process of promoting other people’s products online and earning money for it on a commission basis. For example, you can promote Amazon’s products and earn up to 10 percent of each sale you bring them.)
Affilorama has its good and bad sides, and in this review, you will get a pretty good idea of what it is, how it works, and whether it is worth it.
The person behind Affilorama is Mark Ling. He is a pretty well-known affiliate marketer, but Affilorama is not really his main project.
There are a number of parts to Affilorama, and here they are:
- Affilorama Free
- Affilorama Premium
Let’s go through each one of them, one by one.
Affilorama Free — Is There Anything There of Value?
Affilorama has a free membership option; you don’t even need a credit card to join. There are 100 free lessons on affiliate marketing, complete with videos, screenshots and instructions. It’s actually a pretty impressive number of free lessons compared to other platforms that are out there.
The truth is that a few years ago, I would definitely have recommended Affilorama’s free membership option to anyone who was interested in learning about affiliate marketing. These lessons take you through all stages of affiliate marketing, from getting started to building a website to doing keyword research and everything else you need to know. You can ask questions below each lesson and someone from Affilorama will usually answer you.
However, things have changed — and Affilorama Free hasn’t. Let me explain.
Many affiliate marketing methods that worked a few years ago don’t work anymore. Google has changed the way it treats affiliate marketers and website owners, and the methods that were used half a decade ago are now worthless.
The problem with Affilorama Free is that their lessons are not updated at all. Many of the methods they teach are outdated; not only will they not work, but they can actually hinder you and stop you from being successful.
Some of the methods that they teach include submitting articles to article directories (some of the article directories they mention are now out of business), link building, using PLR articles, posting Clickbank links on Craigslist and Hubpages, and more.
Not only that, but many of the websites referenced in the free lessons either don’t exist anymore or have changed drastically from how they look in the screenshots and videos.
I’m not saying that Affilorama Free is bad. After all, it won’t cost you any money, and they do have plenty of useful tips and tricks for affiliate marketers. Since you don’t have to pay anything for it, you can’t really complain. If you know enough to stay away from the outdated stuff, Affilorama Free is not bad at all. In addition, free members of Affilorama have access to AffiloTools, which I review later in this article.
However, if you are a newbie to affiliate marketing, I would not send you to Affilorama. That’s because as a beginner, you will be unaware of what to stay away from, and you may end up using methods that are outdated.
If you are a newbie, I would instead suggest that you check out Wealthy Affiliate, which is also free to join. It is also constantly being updated.
Affilorama Premium Review — Should You Join?
First of all, you get access to AffiloHost, where you can host your websites. You also get AffiloTools and all the lessons you get with a free membership.
You also get access to premium videos, including some great marketing tips videos, webinar replays, and behind the scenes interviews with Mark Ling. You are allowed to download these videos.
Every month at Affilorama, you get a new ebook, or what they call the “Affilorama magazine.” These contain great tips and useful information for affiliate marketers.
You also get access to new PLR articles and material each month. I will go more into PLR and what it is later in this article, when I review AffiloJetpack.
The problem is not what Affilorama Premium has to offer; the problem is with the price involved. Now, you can get your first month for only $1, which is great. However, each month after that it costs $67, unless you cancel your membership.
I personally don’t think that it is worth it. Sure, there are great affiliate marketing resources, but there’s not enough of them to warrant such a high price. The hosting that you get is not so great either, and you can find hosting for much cheaper. (You may find AffiloHost worth it if you have a lot of websites — read my AffiloHost review later in this article.)
On the other hand, I do recommend that you sign up for your first month. Why? Because your first month there, which only costs $1, you will get your first “Affilorama Magazine.” The first magazine that you get has over 150 pages, and goes through, step-by-step, how to build an affiliate marketing business. There are plenty of great tips and resources in that first magazine, and it is certainly worth one dollar. Remember, you are allowed to download this magazine.
So for just $1, you get to download a 150+ ebook and some other great videos. After downloading them, you can decide for yourself whether you want to stay on a premium membership or cancel it.
AffiloBlueprint Review — Is It Worth the Money?
AffiloBlueprint is a step-by-step training platform for affiliate marketing. It is separate from Affilorama’s regular Free and Premium memberships. You don’t have to be a premium member to purchase this.
I haven’t tried out AffiloBlueprint myself, but they claim to walk you through, step-by-step, Mark Ling’s own methods and how he built his own business and what he does to succeed. It has over 85 video lessons, which are part of a 12-course series.
Purchasing AffiloBlueprint will also give you access to AffiloTheme for up to 5 websites and a bonus one month free trial for Affilorama Premium and AffiloTools. Support is provided — you can ask any of your questions on the lessons to the support team.
The cost of AffioBlueprint is a one-time fee of $197. That might sound a lot compared to membership sites that charge much smaller monthly fees. But monthly membership sites can end up costing you a lot more, depending on how long you stay. With AffiloBlueprint, you get lifetime access to the course and support team, so you can advance at your own pace. They also teach you how to find all the tools you need for free, so besides the $197, you won’t have any more expenses (except for your actual domain name and hosting).
If you are looking for affiliate marketing training and you don’t feel comfortable joining a monthly membership site because of the pressure and stress of paying each month, then AffiloBlueprint will take the worry away from you and is an excellent choice.
AffiloTools Review — Great Free Tools for Affiliate Marketers
AffiloTools are a bunch of tools created by Mark Ling and Affilorama. Since you can get them for free by signing up for a free Affilorama Membership, I don’t really have any complaints against them. After all, free stuff is free stuff! It never hurts to get something without paying for it.
There are a number of tools that are useful. Here are some of them:
- Keyword Research Tool (not the most accurate tool out there, but very useful nonetheless)
- Rank Tracking Tool — track how you are ranking for certain keywords; the tool will keep updating the results in real time
- Link Research Tool — research the number of backlinks your competitors have and where they are coming from
- Link Finder Tool — enter a keyword to find out where you can get potential backlinks
- Domain Research Tool — enter a keyword to find which domains are available for it
- Social Media Management — manage your social profiles from your dashboard
- Site Healthcheck — perform a health check on your site
- Website Tracking and Analysis — connect your Google Analytics and/or Clickbank account to track your visitors and revenue
Again, these tools are all free with a free Affilorama membership. I suggest you sign up for a free membership to check them out.
AffiloHost Review — Should You Use Affilorama’s Hosting Platform?
AffiloHost is Affilorama’s hosting platform. You get to host up to 15 websites if you are a Premium member of Affilorama. It’s not bad hosting, but again, it’s not the best either. Actually, 15 websites for $67 a month is not that bad (that’s less than $4.50 a month per website!), but most people don’t have 15 websites.
You can always contact Affilorama’s support team for website support or if you need help setting up a website. They even have a phone number you can call.
AffiloThemes Review — Are There Better Website Themes Out There?
AffiloThemes are ready made website themes that you can use. I never tried them out, and I don’t intend to. There are many other great premium themes that I’m sure are of better quality and worth paying for.
AffiloJetpack Review — What Are You Paying $997 For?
AffiloJetPack is basically loads of PLR material! It costs a hefty one-time fee of $997, and it is for people who want to make money through email marketing while doing no work. Let me explain what it is, so you can understand whether it is worth it for you or not.
With AffiloJetpack, you get access to ready made landing pages, email newsletters, and ebooks. You can choose 5 niches at once for all of these things.
Basically, it works like this:
- You get traffic to your ready-made landing pages
- You offer them a free ready-made ebook if they sign up to your mailing list
- People sign up to your email list
- You send them your ready-made newsletters with affiliate program offers built in
- You make money
Basically, you get ready-made landing pages for 5 niches, ebooks to offer as an incentive to sign up to your list (3 ebooks for each niche), and one year’s worth of newsletters for each niche, with affiliate offers built in.
This material is PLR (Public Label Rights) material. Yes, everyone who purchases AffiloJetpack is getting the same ebooks and newsletters. However, this isn’t necessarily a problem of duplicate content, since you are not concentrating on SEO here; you are sending people to your landing pages via PPC and paid advertisements. And you can always tweak the material to make it a little more personalized.
Is this worth it? My opinion is as follows: If you have experience with paid advertising and you are certain that you will be able to get people to your landing pages and get them to sign up to your list, then this may be worth it. If you are sure that you can make more than $997 through people who sign up to these lists, then why not?
However, if you don’t know how to get traffic to your landing pages, or if you are not certain that you will be able to get enough conversions, then I wouldn’t recommend it. You will be getting a lot of material, but you have to find the traffic yourself.
So, Will Mark Ling Scam You? Can It Really Be True?
As we have seen, Mark Ling’s Affilorama is not a scam. However, not all of its products may be worth it for you. Let’s sum them up again:
- Affilorama Free — It’s free, so you can’t complain! However, it has outdated information. There are also some good tips, but it is not recommended for newbies.
- Affilorama Premium — Not worth it for most people. However, the $1 thirty-day trial is a great way to try it out.
- AffiloBlueprint — Costs $197, but it is a one-time expense and you don’t have to worry about monthly fees. Definitely something to consider.
- AffiloTools — It’s free and has some great tools for affiliate marketers. It’s worth it because it’s free.
- AffiloHost — Not worth it for most people. However, the $1 thirty-day trial is a great way to try it out.
- AffiloThemes — There are better options out there.
- AffiloJetpack — Only recommended if you are confident that you can earn more than you are paying for it.
So, if you are interested in what Mark Ling has to offer, I suggest you check out Affilorama Premium, AffiloTools, and AffiloHost for just $1. You can cancel at any time, and you can email or phone them for support.
