What is Shop.com? Is Shop.com legit? Is it an ecommerce store? An online grocery store? A discount website? A cashback website? Answer: All of the above! Read this Shop.com review to discover the story.
Shop.com — What In the World Is It?
Shop.com is mainly a cashback site, somewhat similar to Ebates. However, it’s set up differently, and can be a little confusing on the surface.
To earn cashback at Shop.com, all you have to do is register an account and start browsing the site. You can search by store, by item, or visit one of the categories from the menu. There are all sorts of items on Shop.com, including grocery items.
But here’s the difference between Shop.com and other cashback sites: Many of the items at Shop.com can be purchased straight from the Shop.com website. At other cashback sites, you have to always visit the merchant’s site to actually purchase what you want. Shop.com has something called OneCart, and it allows you to purchase items from various stores without ever having to leave the main Shop.com website.
Not all of the items on Shop.com are included in oOneCart. But a lot of them are, and those that are will be marked as such. You can purchase multiple items in a single payment.
Another thing with Shop.com is that many of the items listed there will not only offer you cashback, but will also be discounted on their initial price.
I’ve noticed that Shop.com focuses less on stores than it does on items. So unlike Ebates, where you can browse stores and then earn a certain cashback percent for each store by clicking a link to that store’s website, Shop.com is mostly centered on products. You browse products, not stores. Some of the products are actually offered by Market America (Shop.com’s parent company) themselves, and you can earn cash back on these products as well.
Get Cashback at Local Stores
Shop.com has another unique feature that I’ve never seen at any other cashback site: You can earn cashback when shopping at local stores and eateries.
Here’s how it works: Search Shop.com for local deals. You’ll find a list of stores and restaurants that are included in this offer. All you have to do is link your credit or debit card to Shop Local, and you can then actually go and spend money in these physical stores with that linked credit card to earn cash back. I’ve never tried it myself, but it sounds really cool! You can link any Mastercard, Visa, or American Express card.
Shop Gift Cards
Shop.com has a gift card that you can purchase. If you use it on Shop.com on Market America products, you will earn cashback. These cards are not reloadable. You can also earn cashback on gift card purchases from places like Overstock.
ShopBuddy is a browser extension that will notify you of deals, coupons, and cashback offers when you shop online. If there is a casback offer for a site, the extension will pop up and tell you so, and you can activate it with the click of a button. You can see an example of ShopBuddy in action in the screenshot, where it showed me coupons at Macy’s, along with a two percent cashback offer.
Getting Paid at Shop.com
Shop.com has a minimum payout requirement of $10 in cashback rewards, which can be deposited straight into your bank account. However, you can use your balance towards OneCart payments on Shop.com even if you only have less than 10 dollars (in Canada, Australia and Mexico, though, it will only work on Market America products; in the US, it will work on any OneCart purchase).
Cashbacks usually take up to two weeks to get posted to your account, and then go into pending mode for up to 90 days. However, if the cashback comes as a result of a purchase of one of Market America’s own products, it will get credited to your account within 24 hours, and will be available for use towards your OneCart purchases immediately.
Earn by Referring Friends
If you refer a friend to shop.com, you can earn 50 percent of what they earn as cashback.
So, Is Shop.com Legit? Can It Really Be True?
Shop.com is definitely legit. It’s parent company, Market America, has been around since 1992, is a BBB accredited business, and has an A+ rating with the BBB. It’s a great way to earn cashback on items you are interested in. Since it’s mostly focused on products, not stores, it’s a great site to browse if you’re searching for a discount on a specific product.
However, I do find the site a little confusing. It’s not so well designed, and all of the various options and features can become confusing. It can take some time to figure out exactly how the site works. Reading their help pages might help make things clearer.
