Check out this ShopAtHome review to find out if ShopAtHome is really LEGIT or if it just a DUD.
What Is ShopAtHome?
ShopAtHome may sound like an e-commerce grocery shop, but it isn’t. It’s a cashback site that will pay you cashback when you shop through their site.
Here’s how it works: Visit shopathome.com and browse their store selection. There are thousands of stores you can choose from, including popular stores such as Amazon, Macy’s, Walmart, Kohl’s, etc. Next to each store you will see how much cashback you will earn at that store.
Click on a store to visit it. When you make a purchase, a percentage of what you spend will be deposited into your ShopAtHome account. That’s why it’s called cashback — you get cash back on your what you purchase.
ShopAtHome Coupons and Deals
Besides cashbacks, ShopAtHome also has a wide selection of coupons and deals at thousands of stores. There are four types of coupons and deals:
- Online coupons
- In-store printable grocery coupons
- Restaurant coupons
- Local coupons
The local coupons and deals feature will find deals based on your zip code.
ShopAtHome also has a browser add-on, which they call the “ShopAtHome Button.” It’s a toolbar that will appear at the top of your browser. In Chrome, it will appear as an icon on the upper-right corner. You can use it to search ShopAtHome.com, visit their coupon page, and visit cashback pages for individual stores. It also will let you know when new deals are available, and it will give you deals and cashback opportunities when you are shopping online.
It’s available on Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome and Safari. It is not available outside of the United States.
How Does ShopAtHome Pay?
ShopAtHome has three payment options: Paypal, check, and Amazon gift card.
You need to have at least $20 in your account at the end of the month, and they will pay you a month later. For example, if you have $20 in your account at the end of January, they will pay you at the end of February.
Most cashbacks take 7-10 business days from your purchase shipping date to be processed and accredited to your account. This is normal for cashback sites; some even make you wait a few months.
Is ShopAtHome Trustworthy? What Are the Most Common ShopAtHome Complaints?
ShopAtHome has been around since 1986. They used to offer shopping catalogs, but they stopped doing so in 2008. They now offer coupons and cashback on their website.
ShopAtHome’s parent company, Belcaro Group, has an A+ rating with the BBB. It’s been a BBB accredited business since 2006. So yes, it is legit.
The most common complaints about ShopAtHome is their emails and the toolbar. People find both of them intrusive. It’s not that hard to unsubscribe from their emails, but you have to actually log in and change your email preferences. As for the toolbar, which shows you deals and offers, it can be removed easily by going to your browser’s add-on settings, and you don’t have to install it if you don’t want to.
ShopAtHome vs Ebates
How does ShopAtHome compare to Ebates, another popular cashback site? Here are some pointers:
- Both have a browser add-on
- Both have an A+ rating with the BBB
- Both have been around for many years
- Both have comparable cashback rates, as shown in this graph for some very popular stores:
The orange is ShopAtHome and the Yellow is Ebates. These rates are at the time I am writing this and are subject to change.
So, Is ShopAtHome Legit? Can It Really Be True?
Yes, ShopAtHome is definitely legit. They have an A+ rating with the BBB, are a BBB accredited business, and have been around for a long time.
As you can see in the graph, they have higher cashback rates than other sites for some stores and lower cashback rates for other stores. The best thing would probably be to join both Ebates and ShopAtHome; this way you will always be able to get the highest cashback amount possible.
